A support inbox is not a to-do list

A to-do list asks one question: is it done? A support record has to answer a second one: what did we tell this customer last time?

Three-person teams often collapse the two. The conversation is answered, archived, and effectively forgotten — so when the same customer writes again in a month, the answer starts from zero.

What a queue has that a list does not

  • State: new, waiting on us, waiting on customer, closed. Not just "done".
  • Owner: one person accountable, even if anyone can reply.
  • Memory: the thread stays attached to the customer, not to the inbox view.

That is the whole difference between answering messages and running support. The tool matters less than whether those three properties exist.
